UMTS Radio System Design

This course is intended to provide participants with a technology overview of the UMTS system so as to appreciate the operation and optimization of the UMTS radio network. The course provides a overview of UMTS technology and a high level view of the hardware, function, and associated nodes. This is followed by an intermediate level of understanding on UMTS concepts and terminology associated with the air interface. Major topics discussed include UMTS principles and network architecture, network planning and dimensioning, radio system performance enhancements, micro-cell and indoor solutions, network management and optimization, and HSDPA.

Who should Attend Class Size 10-15 Participants

The course is designed for RF engineers and technical professionals requiring an intermediate level of understanding of the UMTS system, air interface and basic optimization techniques. System integrators seeking to have an in depth knowledge of UMTS system and radio planning will also find the course beneficial.

Pre-requisite Knowledge
Duration 5 days (35) hours

Participants should have some Telecommunication background, and preferably with some knowledge of RF, Digital Communications and GSM system.
