User Interface for Real-time Video Monitoring
(Viewing Management Software - VMS) |
The Real-time Video Monitoring feature enables Qualified Users to securely monitor, in real time, the scene under surveillance by their camera(s).
The standard interface allows Local and Remote users to interface through any Internet Browser (with internet connection).
Note – no additional monitor, keyboard or mouse is necessary. Users simply use their existing computer hardware to monitor and configure the system through an Internet Browser.
Option A - Monitoring through a Mobile Device
Monitoring features are available through Mobile Phone / PDA Interface*
- Option 2a – GPRS support (2G)
- Option 2b – 3GPP support (3G)

Recording Time |
Depending on User Settings: typically over 30 days |
Recording Modes |
The following recording modes are available (for each channel):
- Continuous (until storage space is full – then stop recording)
- Motion Detect (only records once a movement is detected)
- Scheduled (according to a user settable time schedule)
- Audio recording is optional on each Video Channel
Note - a First-in-First-Out (FIFO) feature is available. With this feature Enabled, once the storage space for that Video Channel is fully used up, the oldest recordings are overwritten by new recordings. |
Recording Features |
Watermark:
A user settable Watermark may be superimposed on each Video Channel. This allows Date, Time and Camera Name information to be included on each Video Channel.
Picture Adjustments:
The Brightness, Hue and Contrast may be adjusted for each Video Camera (prior to recording) to cater for different environments. Normally a onetime set-up.
Motion Detect
For the Motion Detect (MD) feature certain motion detects area(s) as well as the motions detect sensitivity can be set by the user. |
Alarm Features |
The following Alarm Events will invoke an Alarm Notification:
- Motion Detect
- Loss of Video Signal (if a cable is cut E.T.C)
- Storage Space Full (if FIFO is not enabled)
- External Alarm (see below)
Alarm Notification to a Qualified User may be by one or more of the following methods:
- Detailed SMS(s) – informing Camera Name, Time etc
- Email(s) to User Defined E-Mail address
- Phone call - to User Defined phone numbers(s)

External Alarms |
Optionally the following External Alarm Types can be provided (includes the installation of additional monitoring hardware):
- Option 3a - Gas leak detector
- Option 3b - Fire detector
- Option 3c - Intrusion detection

Evidence Collection |
As well as Real-Time Video Monitoring an Evidence Collection feature allows Qualified Users to download selected Video Clips (Evidence) of the recorded activities. Users can easily select which video(s) to download from:
- the Camera Name, Time and Date information
- a list of Motion Detect Clips (all files with captured motion)
- those Videos recorded during an External Alarm Event
The Selected File(s) may be downloaded in RAW format (best quality) or in compressed format (to reduce the download time). Once downloaded the files may be transferred onto a Memory Stick or Compact Disk for further handling. |
Backup Power Supply (UPS) |
Available as an Option:
- Option 4a - 30 minute standby
- Option 4b - 2 hour standby
- Option 4c - 24 hour standby
Note: The Uninterruptable Power Supply caters for the System Hardware as well as all cameras installed in the system. |
Security |
This Surveillance System incorporates industry standard 128 bit Secure ASP Login (as used by banks etc).
User Rights are assigned depending on the user qualification:
- System Owner – has full rights to configure and monitor*
- Video Ch. User – only has rights to View/Modify his Video Channel
- Alarm and Status info. Will be sent to the appropriate users
Automated Password Reset facility is provided for Qualified Users if a User forgets their password.
* Note - In certain circumstances the System Owner may wish to assign Exclusive Rights of a Video Channel to a User (such as a tenant etc). Under this circumstance only the User assigned Exclusive Rights to a Video Channel is able to View/Modify his Channel. [the System Owner cannot view that Users Channel] |
Maintenance |
Once the system is installed and commissioned the systems is essentially maintenance fee.
System will automatically re-boot and auto-activate in the event of a power interruption (see also the Backup Power Supply (UPS) options).
Optionally, System Status Information (SSI) may be periodically provided to the System Owner through SMS or E-Mail. |
